The 5th East Africa Water Summit came at the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic and was a hybrid conference convening a number of in-person delegates and the majority following the proceedings

online. The hybrid structure was the most ideal at a time in light of the ongoing pandemic and in line with World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health guidelines. Powered by the Doshi, the conference received support from key partners in the water sector. These included the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, the Water Services 

Providers Association (WASPA), the Kenya Water Industry Association (KWIA) and the Geological Society of Kenya (GSK), among others.

Bringing together both public and private players during a pandemic, the summit was themed “Accelerating the achievement of Water and Sanitation for all in the face of the Pandemic”. The theme was addressed from three key perspectives (pillars) – Policy, Technology and Finance. Some of the key highlights included:

• Ministerial keynote address by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation
• Private sector perspective – Covid -19 pandemic response
• Community social responsibility – Covid-19 pandemic response
• Water utilities perspective – Covid -19 pandemic response
• County governments perspective – Covid-19 pandemic response
• National government perspective – Covid -19 pandemic response
• Presentations from international online delegates as well as local delegates on key thematic areas
